REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals. Its main content is the requirement to prove that consumer products do not contain chemicals harmful to human health. Therefore, all consumer products produced in the EU or imported into the EU market, mainly textiles, must pass registration, testing and approval of hazardous chemical content, and once the specified content is exceeded they may not be sold in the EU market.
The REACH Regulation is the EU's preventive management regulation for all chemicals entering its market and came into force on 1 June 2007. The European Commission proposed the chemical White Paper on REACH in February 2001 and formally issued the relevant provisions in the first quarter of 2007, which entered into force in the member states.
