Test Overview
Thermal shock testing, also known as high-low temperature shock testing, exposes test samples to continuously alternating high and low temperature environments so that they undergo abrupt temperature changes within a short time, assessing a product's ability to adapt to rapid changes in ambient temperature.
Thermal shock testing is an indispensable test for design qualification of equipment and for routine testing during mass production, and in some cases can also be used for environmental stress screening. Thermal shock test chambers are used almost as frequently as vibration and high-low temperature tests for verifying and improving the environmental worthiness of equipment.
Test Purpose

· Moving between a warm indoor and a cold outdoor environment
· Sudden cooling caused by rain or cold water
· Rapid temperature rise of components when power is switched ON and OFF
· Switching ON/OFF of air conditioning or heating
· Rapid ascent and descent of aircraft
· Solder joint cracking caused by process defects

Test Cost
Thermal shock testing is quoted based on test duration. Products of different sizes require test chambers of different sizes, and different chamber sizes carry different test prices, calculated by duration. A shorter test time also involves a basic set-up fee.
