On 13 August 2026, the Brazilian National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) formally updated its technical standard for restricted radiation equipment, adjusting the permitted operating range for wireless access devices in the 6 GHz band to 5925–6425 MHz.
The revised instruction sets more detailed functional parameter requirements for indoor access points, subordinate nodes, client devices and very low power (VLP) portable devices operating within this 500 MHz range.
Key points
● Out-of-band emission limits: Outside the 5925–6425 MHz range, the EIRP (equivalent isotropically radiated power) spectral density of all spurious emissions is capped at -27 dBm/MHz.
● Usage restrictions: Indoor access points and subordinate access points may not be used on oil platforms, land vehicles, trains or maritime vessels. Use on board aircraft is limited to large aircraft flying above 10,000 feet (3,048 m).
● Timeline: The new rules take effect immediately, with full enforcement of the technical standard set for 1 March 2027.
● Transitional arrangements: Devices holding a valid Certificate of Conformity whose validity extends beyond the deadline must have their hardware or software parameters adjusted at the next scheduled maintenance update.
